ALL THE COMMANDS OF JESUS

May 4, 2021 by Eddie 1 Comment

In an earlier article entitled LISTING DOWN ALL THAT JESUS COMMANDED, I wrote about my desire to have a list of all the commands of Jesus.  This was in connection with what Jesus said in Matt 28: “teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  So, I went back to all the four gospels and listed all the commands that Jesus gave to his disciples, and which in my mind, I thought He wanted all His disciples then, and now and forever, to follow.

LISTING DOWN ALL THAT JESUS COMMANDED

May 3, 2021 by Eddie 1 Comment

The parting instruction of Jesus about making disciples captures in one sentence and four key words what is involved in the complex task of making disciples.  First is to baptize them.  And second, we see the four disciple-making key words:  which are: “teach”, “obey”, “commands”, and “everything”.

NEW NORMAL IN NEW TESTAMENT TIMES

April 3, 2021 by Eddie 1 Comment

There is nothing new about living a new normal. Ever since the entire world realized that this covid pandemic will not go away easily, people everywhere have adapted new norms and ways of living and working, in order to avoid cross-contamination and to deal with life-under-lockdown and mandated restrictions.  Not only does everyone have to deal with the sudden changes in life- and work-style, so many have to deal with real and painful losses.  This is what living in the new normal means. But this new normal situation that we face today is actually not the first time it has happened in human history.

EQUIPPING YOURSELF TO STUDY SCRIPTURE

January 3, 2021 by Eddie Leave a Comment

If we, disciplers, are to be effective in preparing for, and leading scripture-focused prayer meetings, group discussion, or discipling sessions, then we need to have the proper tools at our disposal. You need to be able to navigate your way around the bible, be able to access resources to help you understand difficult passages, and be efficient in selecting the appropriate verses to “teach, rebuke, correct, and train” the members whom you are discipling according to God’s word.

“I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Eph 3:18-19)
