It’s a refreshing feeling when a verse in scripture just jumps out and speaks volumes to you especially when you’re feeling down, or dry, or just needing to hear some good news. That’s what happened when I saw this verse. I immediately remembered my friends in my prayer community and at my former workplace, specifically those who hold positions of great service responsibility. And I prayed for them this blessing. Now it has become one of my favorite go-to blessings to share especially with those who are burdened with responsibilities.

Who would have thought I would ever face a moment of truth like this?
I had an appointment to meet with the Commissioner on Internal Revenue. She’s one of the most powerful persons in the present government. She’s doing an excellent job, in my personal opinion. But for many reasons, this time I needed to represent the company I work for, in order to appeal clemency from her. The back taxes that her bureau is insisting that we pay is going to drive us to the ground. And as I was about to enter her office, a song and a prayer came to my mind.

A few of my friends in my discipleship group had intimated to me that they wanted to grow in yielding to the gift of the Spirit. I advised them to pray about it and I shared my belief that Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will manifest Himself to us, as and when there is a need for God’s specific presence (either by His word or His action) to be known by His people.

After the 2010 Ligaya Triduum, where I served as the Coordinator-in-charge, I asked for the list of brothers and sisters in Ligaya who helped in one way or the other make the Triduum the success that it evidently was. I was amazed that there were 294 individuals … not counting those who volunteered to serve as lay ministers and lent their crucifixes. Easily, we must have had 320+ brothers, sisters, and their children who made the Triduum possible; that’s equivalent to nearly two Ligaya districts combined!! (See a related post in the Ligaya website entitled “A CAST OF HUNDREDS SERVE IN THE TRIDUUM” for a list of those names.)
