IT’S ABOUT TIME — Note for Pastoral Workers

August 5, 2010 by Eddie Leave a Comment

Are you a pastoral worker, or a small group leader?  Do those individuals whom you pastor or disciple have difficulty finding time for your meetings, worship gatherings, ministry service or even personal prayer time?  Do they have problems with time management (coming to appointments on time, procrastination, prioritizing work, etc.)?

If so, you may want them to take this little web-based lesson entitled, “IT’S ABOUT TIME“.  If you want to give the presentation yourself, a presentation version can be found in a web-based format here:  “IT’S ABOUT TIME (Prezi Version).”

I first delivered this talk to a branch of Ang Lingkod ng Panginoon.  I then modified this lesson and developed it into a web-based lesson so that anyone who needs help in the area of the Christian use of time can log on, and take this short course.  Your members can view this 20-minute teaching on their own time, by just clicking on the link below.  It is suggested that you accompany this lesson with some pastoral discussion so that you can process their learnings, and see how they can apply the learnings, and come up with some personal pastoral action plans.

SUGGESTED DISCUSSION STARTERS

This course is best learned if you accompany it with a guided discussion.  Here are some suggested discussion starters:

  1. Do you have time to do what God wants you to do (e.g., prayer time, ministry service, participation in worship, community, etc.)?  What are the activities or commitments that you have which prevent you from finding time for these?
  2. What are your new realizations about the way you manage your time that you picked up from this lesson?  In what specific way can you apply this in your day to day management of your time?
  3. Do you have problems with procrastination, coming to appointments on time, managing your meeting times, sustaining momentum at a project, and so on?  In what way has God spoken to you through this lesson about that area of concern?

COURSE DESCRIPTION

  • Length:  approximately 20 minutes
  • Technical requirements:  web browser + flash player + audio headset

“I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Eph 3:18-19)
