Part 2 — How an Evangelist Fulfills His Mission

March 2, 2025 by Eddie 4 Comments

This is Part 2 of the EVANGELIST’S CODE BOOK, that I developed for Ligaya ng Panginoon, ESB.

Part 1 talked about having the mindset of an evangelist. Click on the link below if you want to review that. This second part now gives a short list of the behaviors and the purposeful actions of an evangelist who has adopted an evangelistic lifestyle.

So, what would an evangelist be doing in order to be effective? Here’s a few essentials.

  1. First of all, the Evangelist shines the light in the darkness. He demonstrates kindness, patience, love, sacrificial service, joy, peace and integrity encouragement and consolation, that make others curious about his faith because of this (Matt 5:16).
  2. But secondly, an Evangelist must speak the good news about the kingdom boldly.  He is like the farmer who sows the seed on all kinds of soil.
    • All his friends and family and associates know and see that he is a renewed Christian, and that Jesus is his Lord.
    • He shares the good news with them in his social media, whether in the form of prayers, links to devotionals, videos, etc.
    • He is always gracious in speech, being thankful to the Lord, and prays a blessing, and offers prayers publicly.
    • He reaches out and privately offers to pray for each person, and gives words of encouragement and hope without toxic positivity.
  3. But thirdly, at the right time, an Evangelist pulls the net to the boat for the catch.
    • He doesn’t stay in a Christian bubble and merely project goodness.
    • He uses social media posts (whether his own or in reaction to others) as opportunities to start evangelistic conversations.
    • He doesn’t just offer hope in Christ, but he Is purposeful and intentional in engaging persons individually in an EVANGELISTIC CONVERSATION about their faith, without forcing the Gospel.
  4. Finally, an Evangelist doesn’t stop at sharing the Gospel after the evangelistic conversation, but helps them grow in faith.
    • He continues to pray for their conversion and journey.
    • He walks alongside them in their life situation and journey.
    • He offers opportunities for the person to know more about Jesus.
    • He shares evangelistic videos and invites and processes feedback.
    • He invites to a small bible study group.
    • He invites to open events of Ligaya (Pathways, Open Door, etc.)

The items above are not hard to do, and I bet you can come up with many more helpful ideas. Let me know what you think of this list, and please share your feedback and other suggestions in the comments below. God bless you!

“I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Eph 3:18-19)
