intimacy with the Lord

Jesus accuses the crowds in Jerusalem that they do not know God.  This is a personal insult to them, because the Jews believe that of all the peoples, they are the ones who know Yahweh, who know the one, true God. 

Then Jesus cried out as he was teaching in the temple, ‘You know me, and you know where I am from. I have not come on my own. But the one who sent me is true, and you do not know him. (John 7:28)
