THIRST-DAY BIBLE STUDY SERIES

This is a series of short lessons that I am developing and sharing with the leaders of Central District B of Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon. Others are welcome to study the materials and tips provided here, and I pray that you will be encouraged by these materials. This is unfinished work in progress. Therefore, kindly return to this page for regular updates about fresh new content. Feel free to comment and to share your own experiences and thoughts in the comment box.

Our inspiration comes from Paul’s exhortation to Timothy saying:

I solemnly exhort you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: PREACH THE WORD; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.

The aim of our THIRST-DAY SERIES is to equip our pastoral leaders with a variety of tools, tips, techniques, exercises and guides in order to have “scripture-focused” discussions, praise and worship, and communal prayers during their regular small group meetings.

SIMPLE, BUT PRACTICAL, BIBLE STUDY TOOLS AND TIPS

• WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT …? — Several tools that you can use to easily find scripture relevant to topics of concern to you.
• BIBLE READING SERIES — At the start of this year (2021), I posted a series of four articles to encourage our members to start a reading plan for the year. I recommend that all Pastoral Leaders, both men and women, should go through these, and model this to their members, and then pastor their members through this process so that everyone has a reading plan of some sort. Note that Article # 4 is addressed to you, as the Pastoral Leader, but it can also be useful to your members who are ready.
  1. IN THE BEGINNING — To encourage our members to be intentional about their daily bible reading, and to come up with a “reading plan”.
  2. READING PLANS — a selection of bible reading plans to choose from.
  3. MAKING SURE YOU HEAR WHAT THE LORD IS SAYING — practical suggestions on how to make bible reading more fruitful.
  4. EQUIPPING YOURSELF TO LEAD SCRIPTURE-FOCUSED PRAYER MEETINGS — some digital tools to help you as a pastoral leader “study” the bible, and also to equip you in helping your members appreciate the scripture that they read through their plans.

ADDITIONAL HELPFUL TOOLS FOR DISCIPLERS AND PRAYER LEADERS

• LISTING DOWN ALL THAT JESUS COMMANDED / ALL THE COMMANDS OF JESUS — this is a 2-part study based on the final message of Jesus, in Matt 28: “teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  It will help you go through the gospels in search of “all” that Jesus commanded, and then classifying them in a logical manner. It’s a good exercise for a weekend retreat either for individuals or small groups.
• SOME TIPS ON LEADING PEOPLE INTO WORSHIP — this is a simple outline of tips and thoughts that I’ve learned to use when I prepare for a prayer meeting and I’ve been asked to give exhort the body into opening worship. Whether you’re leading a small household prayer group, or a prayer assembly of a community, you will find something useful here to prepare for a Spirit-filled worship.
