When the prophet Isaiah described the event of the coming of the Messiah, he actually composed the script of what the Messiah would say when he would finally arrive. And that speech would go something like this: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. … (and so on).” (Luke 4:14-21)
However, it was only after approximately 700 long years later, when a man stood in a synagogue in Nazareth, thumbed through the scrolls of Isaiah, and when he found this passage, He read it aloud, saying: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon ME because he has anointed ME to bring good news to the poor.” He closed the scroll, and said to everyone: “THIS IS ME.” His name? JESUS.
And that happened more than 2000 years ago, today. And you know what? Jesus may no longer be here in the flesh, but in Spirit, even today, Jesus still announces that message to anyone and everyone who would hear it. Today, Jesus says, to you and to me, and to everyone who would hear it, THIS IS ME. He says:
I am God’s favor to all of you who believe that this Messiah, this Savior, this Redeemer, THIS IS ME. And you will not find lasting peace, you will not find true joy, you will not find perfect comfort anywhere else and from anyone else except in Me.
My friend, whatever situation you may be in today, whether you are enjoying the world and this life and you feel happy and fulfilled, and that you feel that you have enough resources to last you for a lifetime, or whether you are experiencing frustration, depression, anxiety, uncertainty … well, today, IF you believe and accept this claim of Jesus, God is ready to meet you where you’re at, and grant you His most favored blessing. There is nothing, believe me, nothing that you now have, or can possibly imagine to have in the future, that this world can offer that is better than this Great Favor. And what is God’s most special favor to you? Jesus says, THIS IS ME.
Friend, have you made up your mind about Jesus? If not, and if you think you have a lifetime ahead of you to make a decision, you’re right. God is patient. But can you honestly tell me how much time you really have to make up your mind? Are you waiting to be swallowed by a whale, or to be knocked off your horse, before making up your mind? Jesus gave up His life for you already so that you would be entitled to God’s favor. What else are you asking for? Say “Yes” to Jesus now, so that together, you and I can go and tell everyone especially those whom you love and care for about this good news of God’s most special favor waiting for everyone else to claim it.
My friend, look. God is waiting to bless you.
