HAVE YOU HEARD THE SKIES SPEAK?

July 28, 2019 by Eddie 4 Comments

Whenever I go out of town, one of my favorite things to do in the evening is, if I could, walk over to some isolated place away from the house lights, or the car lights, or the street light post. And then I would stare at the night sky and enjoy the spectacle of a starry starry night.

PRAYER BEFORE STARTING WORK

July 27, 2019 by Eddie Leave a Comment

I don’t remember where I copied this prayer, but I’ve used this prayer for many years now, and I’d like to share this simple prayer, with the hope that it inspires you to “work for the Lord, not for men.” (Col 3:23).

The story of Moses teaches us that God never sends us into a battle without the appropriate weapon to win His victory.  Whether it is the gifts of the Spirit to help the community of believers, or the light that shines before others, or practical things like the seven loaves and fishes, or the net cast into the side of the boat, God is able to use whatever we already have at our disposal to proclaim and build His kingdom.

YOUR OWN “Bahala ka na, Lord” PRAYER

June 24, 2019 by Eddie 1 Comment

When you come to the Lord in prayer, asking for His help for yourself, or while interceding for others, you might find encouragement by studying how the good king Jehoshaphat interceded to God during a desperate moment in his kingship over Judah (in 2 Chron 20). Read about this in an earlier related post: BAHALA KA NA LORD.

In this post, I will break down Jehoshaphat’s prayer (which I call the “Bahala ka na, Lord” prayer) and describe a simple pattern which hopefully you will find easy to emulate, and which will encourage you to pray with joy and peace in your heart, knowing that the God of Jehoshaphat is honored as you come to Him for help.

BAHALA KA NA, LORD

June 24, 2019 by Eddie 1 Comment

“Rejoice in the Lord always!” Paul says in Phil 4.    He further encourages them by saying “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

The other night, I was speaking to my brothers and sisters in our District in Ligaya, and I summarized what those who spoke ahead of me were saying.  I said, “Grabe, parang hindi tayo nauubusan ng mga serious problems, ano?”

“I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Eph 3:18-19)
