Part 4 — Conversational Approaches to Real Life Cases

March 2, 2025 by Eddie 4 Comments

We’re now in the last part of the 4-part series comprising the Evangelist’s Case Book. These are materials I compiled for the members of the ESB District of Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon.

In the earlier 3 parts, I shared brief ideas about the mindset, the behavior habits, and the initial approaches in opening the doors to evangelize anyone. There are links below in case you want to refer back to the earlier parts.

In this final part, you will see examples of various types of people you will encounter, and some suggestions on how best to approach them.

Part 3 — How an Evangelist Engages Someone in an Evangelistic Conversation

March 2, 2025 by Eddie 4 Comments

This is Part 3 (of 4 parts) of the EVANGELIST’S CODEBOOK developed for members of Ligaya ng Panginoon ESB. Click on the links below if you want to revisit the earlier parts.

In Part 1, we talked about the mindset of an evangelist. In Part 2, we listed a few essential behaviors that you would see a fully engaged evangelist would be doing. In this part, I just share a few general tips on how to begin talking “serious stuff” with your friends, but without turning them off, and them pushing you away. I hope this will help and that it will bear fruit for you.

Part 1 — What an Evangelist Believes, Thinks, and Feels

March 2, 2025 by Eddie 4 Comments

NOTE: This is Part 1 of the EVANGELIST’S CODEBOOK for Ligaya ng Panginoon ESB members.

Do you want to develop an evangelistic lifestyle? Well, and good. For, as a disciple, you have been called to make disciples of all. And you cannot do that unless you adopt AN EVANGELISTIC LIFESTYLE. So, here are a few mindsets that you have to embrace fully in order to begin to be an authentic, Holy-Spirit-driven evangelist:

YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD TO PURSUE A HIGHER CALLING

February 2, 2025 by Eddie Leave a Comment

There are two scenes in Luke 2:22-40 where the Holy Family (Joseph, Mary and the child Jesus) coincidentally are blessed by elderly persons.  Here’s what happened:

Shortly after Jesus’ birth, Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple for purification rites, as was the custom. At the temple, they encountered Simeon, a devout and elderly man who had been waiting for the “consolation of Israel.” Guided by the Holy Spirit, Simeon took the child Jesus in his arms, praised God, and joyfully declared that, at long last, he had seen the promised Savior.  Apparently, Simeon had been praying for a long time for this to happen.  And it finally did!

When Anna, who is nearby in the temple, hears Simeon’s praises, she begins to tell others of the good news.  Anna was a prophetess and an elderly widow who was in her 80s, and she spent her days and nights worshiping, fasting, and praying at the temple. And here we see that she is one of the first evangelists, telling others the good news.

My friends, may I invite you to draw inspiration from these two elderly figures, Anna and Simeon.
