CALLING ALL CHRISTIANS

October 29, 2025 by Eddie Leave a Comment

Someone once asked Jesus, “Lord, will only a few people be saved?”  If you read the story in Luke 13:22-30, you will see that the person asking Jesus about this is most likely a Jew who feels certain that he is saved.  And Jesus is once again upset about the arrogance and aloofness of the person asking, practically brushing him aside and saying “Away from me, I don’t know you.”

Here we have another confrontation where Jesus surprises the audience and reminds them to take their faith in God to a much deeper level than they have been superficially doing.

COME, FOLLOW ME — Wait lang!

September 28, 2025 by Eddie Leave a Comment

In today’s gospel from Luke 16:19–31, Jesus tells a story about a very rich man and a poor name named Lazarus.   The rich man ends up in hell, and discovers too late that there is no relief for him … not even for his brothers whom he left behind and were living similar lifestyles as him.

This story is one of Jesus’ sharpest wake-up stories.  It is strikingly vivid, sobering, and directly challenges not just man’s cruelty, but also his complacency.

THE ONE THING THAT MATTERS THE MOST: Fullness of Life … Forever

August 3, 2025 by Eddie Leave a Comment

After working hard on a project or an investment proposal, and you’re competing with others for funding, and after having worked so hard, and put in so much time and energy and all your resources into this final bid, confident that you have THE winning solution … imagine hearing these words: ‘You’ve done well … but you forgot the one thing that matters most. So sorry for you.’”

How would you react?  All that effort wasted.  Sayang. If you only knew THAT ONE THING that mattered, you would have considered and prioritized that in your proposal, right? Or, worse. What if you knew about it, but you didn’t think it was a big deal.

JESUS DIDN’T COME TO JUDGE — But Are You Judging Him?

July 4, 2025 by Eddie Leave a Comment

You’ve probably heard it said that Jesus didn’t come to judge us. But have you ever considered that we might be the ones judging Him?”

In Matthew 9:9-13, Jesus calls a tax collector named Matthew. Now, tax collectors worked for the Romans, back then.  They weren’t just disliked — they were hated by everyone, and considered traitors and thieves.  But Jesus doesn’t hesitate. He says, “Follow me.” And Matthew does.

SEVERELY SHORT-SIGHTED — That’s Why We Need A Shepherd

June 27, 2025 by Eddie Leave a Comment

What if you couldn’t see more than 10 feet in front of you, and that everything beyond that is totally blurry?  That would be very hard to do anything useful on your own, right?  Fortunately, God has gifted us with eyesight that can see, at best, up to 250 feet clearly.

But sheep aren’t so lucky.  They literally are short-sighted, and cannot see beyond 10 to 15 feet in front of them.  They have very wide vision, like a super-wide-angle lens; and this is because their eyes are on opposite sides of their head.  But still, they cannot see far.  They’re easily distracted, but they hardly have any idea where they are or where they’re going. That is why sheep have a notorious reputation for going astray, and just wandering around and often getting lost.  And Jesus had several parables about sheep getting lost, like for example in Luke 15:3-7, where He talks about a shepherd going after the one lost sheep.
